"Let's move on to Part 3."

Part 1 问的是 "Do you like reading?",你可以轻松回答。Part 3 问的是 "How has the way people read changed in your country over the past decade?"——你突然发现,这不是在聊天了,这是在面试。

Part 3

例如,如果 Part 2 的话题是 "Describe a skill you learned recently",Part 3 的问题可能是:

  • What skills do you think will be most important in the future?
  • Do you think schools are doing enough to prepare students for the job market?
  • How has technology changed the way people learn new skills?
  • Some people say that practical skills are more important than academic knowledge. What's your opinion?

A — Answer(直接回答)

Do you think technology has made our lives easier or more complicated?

>

Well, I'd say it's a double-edged sword — it has definitely made many aspects of life more convenient, but at the same time, it's introduced a whole new set of complications."

很多 5.5-6.0 分的考生在这步就出问题了——他们会说 "Hmm, that's an interesting question. Let me think about it..."

R — Reason(给出原因)

"The main reason I say that is because technology has dramatically reduced the time we spend on routine tasks. For example, online banking, food delivery apps, and video conferencing have all made our daily lives incredibly efficient."

E — Example(具体例证)

"But on the flip side, social media has created problems like information overload and anxiety. I've seen many friends who feel pressured to constantly check their phones, and studies have shown that excessive screen time is linked to poor mental health."

"Why"

当考官问 "Why do you think..."

Why do you think so many young people are choosing to start their own businesses?

>

Because they want to make money and be their own boss."

>

I think there are several factors driving this trend. First, the rise of social media and e-commerce platforms has significantly lowered the barriers to entry — you can start an online business with very little capital. Second, there's been a cultural shift towards valuing autonomy and purpose over stability. Many young people grew up watching their parents work 9-to-5 jobs and don't want the same lifestyle. And finally, the pandemic played a role too — it showed people that traditional employment isn't as secure as they thought, which pushed some to take the leap into entrepreneurship."

当考官问 "How can..." 或 "How has..."

How can governments encourage people to use public transportation more?

>

They can make it better and cheaper."

>

There are several approaches governments could take. One is to invest heavily in infrastructure — making public transport more reliable, more frequent, and more extensive. If buses and trains are always late, no one will use them regardless of how cheap they are. Another approach is financial incentives, like subsidizing monthly passes or offering tax deductions for people who commute by public transport. Some cities have also experimented with making certain areas car-free, which essentially forces people to use alternatives. I think a combination of all three would be most effective."

But don't you think online learning has some disadvantages?

>

No, I don't think so."

>

That's a fair point, and I completely agree that online learning isn't without its drawbacks. For instance, the lack of face-to-face interaction can make it difficult for students to build relationships with classmates and teachers. However, I'd still argue that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, especially when you consider the flexibility and accessibility it offers to people in remote areas."

  • "That's a really interesting perspective, and I can see where you're coming from..."
  • "I'd definitely agree with that up to a point, but..."
  • "That's a valid concern. On the other hand..."
  • "I hadn't thought about it from that angle, but I still believe..."

有些问题本身就带有预设前提,比如 "Why is it important for children to learn a second language?"

"Well, I think it depends largely on the individual child's circumstances. For children growing up in multilingual environments, learning a second language is almost inevitable and certainly beneficial. But I wouldn't go as far as saying it's essential for every child. Some children might benefit more from focusing on other skills like coding or creative arts."

Part 3

a double-edged sword双刃剑
bridge the gap between...
at the expense of...

strike a balance between...
lay the foundation for...

a melting pot大熔炉

如果你发现自己回答完毕了,加一句 "And I think this is especially true in my country, where..." 或者 "Another aspect worth mentioning is..."

How has technology affected the way people communicate with each other?

>

Technology has changed our lives in many ways. For example, we can shop online, study online, and work from home..."

如果不确定,可以说 "Could you clarify what you mean by...?" 或 "Do you mean in general or specifically in the context of...?"。

What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a big city?

>

Part 1 式回答:"I live in Beijing and I love it because there are many restaurants and shopping malls. But sometimes the traffic is bad and the air quality isn't great."

Well, living in a big city certainly offers a lot of opportunities — better career prospects, access to quality healthcare and education, and a more vibrant cultural scene. But the trade-offs are significant. The cost of living, particularly housing, is often prohibitive for young people. And there's also the issue of environmental degradation — pollution, noise, and lack of green spaces can seriously affect people's quality of life."

"um... you know... like... basically... actually..."

  • "Let me think about that for a moment..."
  • "That's an interesting question..."
  • "Well, there are several ways to look at this..."
  • "To be honest, I haven't thought about this before, but..."

"To be completely honest, I don't know a great deal about this particular topic. But if I had to speculate, I'd say...

"You mentioned that social media has negative effects. Could you give me a specific example?"

"But some people would argue that social media has actually brought people closer together. What would you say to that?"
